Before and After

Last night Devin (my husband) and I spent the evening sipping hot cocoa, listening to Christmas music and decorating our Christmas tree…in short…a perfect night! I have completed my Christmas home transformation and all seems right with the world! Heehee! I have pictures of some of the details, the process, and some special memories to share with you, but alas, it is time for me to head back to work for a couple days. More Christmas posts to come! Here’s the “before” and “after”.

Officially Christmas

Today is one of my favorite days of the year…the day we get our Christmas tree!!! I love Christmas time more than anything and get so excited when the season officially begins. In NY it is more difficult to go out and find/cut your own tree so we have made a new tradition of going to the local Fire House to get our tree. We enjoy supporting our local heroes and it is always a great time!

As a surprising treat I was allowed back to check out the engine and play dress up with the gear. The last time I was this close a fire truck was in first grade and I have to admit I think I had more fun this time around. Everyone was a great sport as I struggled to get the jacket on! The entire building would have burnt down before I had any gear on, so I think I will leave fire fighting and life saving to the pros. Thank you North White Plains Fire Company #1 and Engine #47 for all the work you do and for allowing me to relive my childhood. You are truly heroes!

Tomorrow...home decorating! I have before and after pictures to reveal our home’s Christmas transformation tomorrow. Stay tuned!

A Reason to Celebrate

There is nothing that night nurses love more than a fresh pot of coffee and a reason to throw a party! This past week we had just that. Aniece is due to have her third baby in just a couple weeks and so we thought we would throw her a little surprise party to celebrate. Indian curry, Filipino noodles, and two choices of dips and chips with strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake to top it off! What more could you want. It was a busy night on the floor so I did not get as many pictures as I would have liked to, but she received some really cute little outfits! How exciting…congratulations Aniece, I cannot wait to meet the little guy!

Successful Failure

Last day of my “vacation” from work and still so much to do! My bag challenge was close, but I did not make it! =( I worked hard last week but ran into some obstacles and have not had a chance to put in more time yet this week. I’ll keep you posted on when I finally have to finish that set up.

This past week has been full of victories and losses.  I have my business license so we are official and ready to go (whew!), we made some wonderful headway on the website (finally…yikes!), I lost my childhood kitty (I had no idea how hard I would take this…it has been rough!), my baby brother has his driver’s license (SO PROUD... but watch out!), and tragically my poor little iron pooped out (this is not good timing!). Needless-to-say there is never a still moment around here! On to iron researching! Any suggestions?
